The moving average temperature in Suzhou has been above 22℃ for five consecutive days (May 25-29). According to Suzhou Meteorological Bureau, the city has already entered Summer in the meteorological sense of the season on May 21, the first day when the daily average temperature exceeded 22℃.
Summer usually arrives in Suzhou on May 27. In the past decade, summer’s arrival fell on May 25. In 2020, the city welcomed summer on May 11. Last year, Suzhou entered summer on the day of May 7, the earliest since 1961. And this year, after a 83-day long spring, the longest since 2008, Suzhou finally entered summer last Saturday. On average, Suzhou residents experience 11 scorching days (with the highest temperature at or above 35℃) in each summer.
Affected by showers and cloud system, the temperature increase was quite small last week. But the air was getting muggy day by day. The highest temperature in the days to come is forecast to remain above 30℃, and the weather will be either rainy or cloudy.
