The news briefing of “Meet in Beijing” Olympic Culture Festival & The 22nd “Meet in Beijing” International Arts Festival was held in Beijing yesterday afternoon, during which some performances of Suzhou Arts & Culture Week made their debut.
“Meet in Beijing” Olympic Culture Festival & The 22nd “Meet in Beijing” International Arts Festival will be held from January 6 to February 18, 2022 while Suzhou Arts & Culture Week will last from January 6 to 20. Suzhou Opera, Kunqu Opera, symphony and ballet will come on stage as well as other Suzhou elements to add Suzhou colors to the Beijing Winter Games through “Jiangnan Culture”.
Select Operas
Seven operas created by Jiangsu Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theater, Suzhou Opera Troupe, Suzhou Pingtan Troupe, Suzhou Song & Dance Theater, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Suzhou Ballet Theatre and China Kunshan Contemporary Kunqu Opera Company will be performed at Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center and Tianqiao Theater.
Spring Festival Elements
Suzhou Spring Festival Experiencing Week will be host from January 6 to 10, 2022 at the public space of Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center. Suzhou intangible cultural heritages, including Suzhou embroidery, Song brocade, Suzhou fan, clay sculpture, paper cutting, fruit pit carving, kesi, copper stove, sachet, colored lantern, lantern riddle, Kunqu Opera, pingtan, Huangtianyuan pastry, Caizhizhai candy and Aozao Noodles, will bring Spring Festival elements of Suzhou to Beijing.
Cultural and creative products related to the Year of the Tiger, such as Suzhou embroidery, clay sculpture, New Year print, paper cutting, sachet, etc., will also be exhibited during the experiencing week.
Film Screening
China Film Archive will hold a special screening event for the documentary The Magic Crafts of Suzhou during the Suzhou Arts & Culture Week. Creators of the film will be invited to communicate with the audience after the screening and offer them an opportunity to experience the crafts personally.
The film selects nine representative crafts of Suzhou, introduces the development of these crafts from the perspectives of 12 representative inheritors, and tell the warm stories between the inheritors and the crafts.
