Xie Yousu, born in 1948 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, is a member of China Artists Association, a director of Jianghai painting and Calligraphy Association, executive vice chairman of China fine brushwork Artists Association, and director of Suzhou Yousu Art Museum.
His father Xie Xiaosi, whose ancestral home is Guiyang, he is a famous calligrapher and painter, also a contemporary master of Chinese painting Lu Fengzi Gaozu. He once served as vice chairman of Jiangsu Art Association, vice chairman of Suzhou CPPCC, director of culture and education, director of Cultural Management Committee, and director of landscape renovation Committee. He has published 《Xie Xiaosi’s Paintings》, 《Xie Xiaosi’s Poems And Essays》, and 《Suzhou Garden Appreciation》. In April 2014, the international asteroid Nomenclature Committee named an asteroid 204836 discovered by Zijinshan Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as “Xie Xiaosi star” and awarded him the title of “guardian of world cultural heritage” in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the protection of Suzhou ancient city and world cultural heritage.
His mother, Liu Shuhua, also studied from masters such as Lu Fengzi and Pan Tianshou. She specializes in ink and bamboo, and has her own style. She is one of the founders of “Suzhou Canglang Poetry Society”.
The guidance of his parents and good teachers has laid a solid foundation for the basic skills of culture and painting. After years of study and research, he has devoted himself to creation. His landscape paintings are full of the sense of vicissitudes of the border villages and the ancient simplicity of the water lanes in the south of the Yangtze river.In recent years, he has devoted his painting energy to the creation of street figure painting. His figure painting is quiet, kind, humorous and full of life interest and flavor, forming his own artistic style. With realistic and moderate exaggeration, it records an era of innocence that is being lost, an era that is worth savoring and remembering.
His works have been selected for many art exhibitions at all levels and won awards. He has been invited to hold art exhibitions in asiatica, Yunfeng art garden, Taipei National Father memorial hall, Nanjing Museum of modern Chinese history, Hangzhou Museum of fame, Suzhou Library and other places. He also has a special exhibition in the famous historical and cultural street, Suzhou Pingjiang road Yousu Art Museum. He has published 《The Collection Of Xie Yousu’s Traditional Chinese Paintings》, 《The Collection Of Xie Yousu’s Figure Paintings》 and 《The Picture Books Of Marketplace》.
