Yangtze River documentary directed by Takeuchi to be released

The documentary The Yangtze River will be released nationwide on May 24. Director Ryo Takeuchi will attend a series of post-screening talks in Suzhou on May 18 to promote his latest production.

The documentary is jointly produced by Zhangjiagang Jingnonglian Cultural Development Partnership and Jiangsu Film Group, among others.

It documents the tremendous changes to the Yangtze River over the past decade. Starting from the Bund in Shanghai, it takes the audience to Nanjing, Wuhan, Chongqing and many other cities, and the source of the river – Tuotuo tributary.

Japanese director Takeuchi is known for his documentaries about China, which are critically acclaimed across the globe. He was selected as one of the 100 globally respected Japanese people by Newsweek in 2021 and was nominated for the 12th China Documentary Academy Award.
