Thousand-year-old Huangdai Town is famous for its history of pingtan performance. As a unique story-telling art performed in Suzhou dialect, pingtan has been very popular with local residents. Revolving around the ancient musical entertainment genre, Suzhou Pingtan Park opened to the public on June 3.
It is located on the north side of Yuehu Square and east of Peiyang Road in Huangdai Town, covering an area of approximately 29,333 square meters and a total floor area of 5,845.19 square meters.
With the pingtan skill-learning career as its main theme, Suzhou Pingtan Park features special public space that allows visitors to have an interactive experience of the pingtan plots. It is a combination of multiple functional areas, including pingtan park, pingtan theater, museum and ancient stage. The two-story pingtan theater, with a seating capacity of 200, will become the largest of its kind in the urban area of Suzhou after starting operation.
While promoting the unique pingtan culture, Suzhou Pingtan Park is also equipped with fitness trail, viewing corridor and waterfront landscape trail. Visitors can not only enjoy the pingtan performance, but also go for a random stroll and have fun with family. In addition, the park provides more than 300 parking spots for the convenience of visitors.
