Suzhou Symphony Orchestra officially announced its programs for the 2021-22 season at a press conference held on July 17.
After that, a concert titled Chinese Masterpieces kicked off, with Chen Xieyang holding the baton, which brings a successful conclusion to the orchestra’s first “Hua Xia Music Festival”.
The upcoming 2021-22 season will be the fifth music season since the founding of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra. For the purpose of popularizing classical music and promoting Jiangnan culture, the orchestra is planning over 50 series performances with different themes.
*With the joint effort of Suzhou and SIP, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZS) was founded in November 18, 2016. It is comprised of more than 70 musicians with an average age of 30 who are natives of China and 18 other countries and regions including Japan, South Korea, and the United States. As the first professional symphony orchestra of Suzhou, it has staged over 600 performances of different kinds since its establishment, attracting a total audience of 400,000 offline and 50 million online.
The Suzhou Symphony Orchestra launched its 2021-2022 season, which will see over 50 concerts and feature celebrated musicians including composer Tan Dun, clarinetist Sabine Meyer, violinist Ning Feng, pianist Zhang Haochen and tenor Shen Yang. In addition, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra will host a special concert in celebration of the 60th anniversary of famous conductor Bian Zushan’s career.
Highlights of the whole new season include the works of Bruckner (Austria), Machavariani (Georgia), Myaskovsky (Russia), Ginastera (Argentina), and many other famous composers. Apart from that, audiences can also expect to enjoy the concert edition of Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, Roméo et Juliette (by Berlioz), a multimedia edition of Pictures at an Exhibition (by Mussorgsky), etc.
