The Suzhou Rare Animal Science Museum was inaugurated recently at the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences of Suzhou University of Science and Technology.
The museum houses over 1,300 specimens of animals, most of which are amphibians and reptiles. There are specimens of over 50 endangered species, including 24 specimens of 18 kinds of national first-grade protected animals such as Yangtze giant softshell turtle, Chinese alligator, South China tiger, Chinese sturgeon, round nosed lizard, and pangolin.
The museum will contribute to the protection of endangered animals and biodiversity in the region as well as education and popularization of science.
