The Second Dushu Lake Tunnel
With a length of 3.33 kilometers, the Second Dushu Lake Tunnel is an underwater tunnel with a dual carriageway. It is expected to complete construction this year.
Connecting Wuzhong District and Suzhou Industrial Park, the Second Dushu Lake Tunnel runs from east to west and crosses the scenic Dushu Lake. The tunnel will shorten the commuting time from Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District, SIP to Guoxiang Subdistrict, Wuzhong District from 30 minutes to 5 minutes.
Jinji Lake Tunnel
The Jinji Lake Tunnel starts from Xinghai Road, runs along the Zhongxin Avenue through the Jinji Lake, and finally reaches West Nanshi Road. The cross-lake part is built together with the Suzhou Rail Transit Line 6 project. With three lanes in each direction, the tunnel is 6.04-kilometer long while its main passage measures about 5.4 kilometers in length. The design speed of the tunnel is 50 kilometers per hour.
The tunnel is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2022. The travel time between east and west sides of Jinji Lake will be shortened to three minutes.
Suzhou Olympic Sports Center
Based on available land and construction space, Suzhou Olympic Sports Center is being upgraded to a high-quality emergency shelter that consists of rescue headquarters, medical relief center, supplies reserve center, living quarters and rescue team station. With no changes to current function and appearance of the venue, the upgrading work revolves around the center’s ability to be converted into a shelter for citizens in the event of an emergency. The project will be due for completion this year.
Nanjing University Suzhou Campus
Located in SND, Nanjing University Suzhou Campus covers an area of around 133.3 hectares. According to construction plan, the new campus is made up of East and West Zone. The East Zone, scheduled to go into operation in September, 2022, is about 21.73 hectares in area and has a total floor area of 320,000 square meters.
