According to the executive committee of the Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone, relevant departments are now stepping up the efforts to kick off the construction of a new intercity railway simultaneously in Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang.
Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiaxing Intercity Railway is made up of three sections, namely Shanghai Demonstration Zone Railway (Shanghai section), Watertown Tourism Railway (Jiangsu section), Jiashan-Xitang Railway (Zhejiang section). The construction of Shanghai section is scheduled to start in the first half of the year.
Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiaxing Intercity Railway stretches around 100 kilometers, with a total of 15 stations. It starts from Shanghai’s Hongqiao CBD in the east, joins Shanghai-Jiaxing Intercity Railway at Jiashan Station in the south and meets Rudong-Nantong-Suzhou-Huzhou Intercity Railway in the west.
As an important part of country’s efforts to build a “Yangtze River Delta on Track”, Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiaxing Intercity Railway strings multiple core areas in the region, including Hongqiao CBD, Qingpu New City, Xicen Science and Technology Innovation Center, Watertown Living Room, Xiangfudang Science and Technology Innovation Green Valley, and Wujiang HSR Scientific Innovation New Town.
Apart from railway, the interconnection of rail transit among Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai is also underway. According to YRD integration demonstration zone developers conference, Suzhou Rail Transit Line 10, Shanghai Metro Line 17 and Jiaxing Rail Transit Line 3 will converge at “Watertown Living Room” in the future, bringing greater convenience to the passengers and boosting the accessibility of the region.
