Yangtze River Delta International Air Harbour Modern Logistics Center was opened in Kunshan yesterday. As the first logistics center established by Eastern Air Logistics and Shanghai Airport Logistics in East China, it will cooperate with 111 airline companies across the globe, and is able to reach 1,036 destinations at home and abroad, with its airway network covering over 100 countries and regions.
According to Song Ke, general manager of Kunshan Integrated Bonded Area Logistics Center Co., Ltd, the center carried out a test flight with a world-renowned semiconductor corporation prior to its opening. It took only 25 hours rather than 39 hours before to ship the cargo from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Kunshan, with the cost down 24 percent. The transport time from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Kunshan was shortened from 20 hours to 11, with the cost down around 16 percent.
As the representative of open economy in the country, Kunshan is home to more than 9,000 foreign-funded companies from 79 countries and regions, which involve a total investment of over $120 billion. There are millions of market entities and 2,669 industrial enterprises above designated size across the city. Kunshan saw its import and export volume surpass $100 billion again last year, ranking 15th among domestic cities.
