About Floriade
Floriade is an international exhibition and garden festival, held every 10 years in the Netherlands. It has been listed as an A1 category exhibition by the International Association of Horticultural Producers. Floriade 2022 will be held from April 14 to October 9.
Located on the north side of the main road of the Floriade pavilion, the China Bamboo Garden will present a Chinese garden with flowers and bamboo while fully preserving the existing plants, and will have three areas, namely Bamboo Grove Area, Special Flower Exhibition Area and Bamboo Yard Area, and six scenarios, i.e. The Bamboo Book of China, Bamboo Bridge Under Moon, Sounds of Bamboo Musician, The Realm of Healing, Bamboo Yard Over Creek and Bamboo Pavilion in Flower.
When asked the reason why bamboo was chosen as the concept and main material, He Fengchun, Design Master of Jiangsu Province and chair of Suzhou Institute of Landscape Architecture Design Co., Ltd., explained that bamboo has made important contributions to the daily life of the Chinese people and is the artistic and cultural symbol and carrier unique to China. “We aim to include new materials and techniques, present the concept of a greener environment and communicate the beauty of Chinese culture through prefabricated bamboo buildings.”
The project of China Bamboo Garden has entered the construction phase. The Garden will hold various Chinese culture events during the expo, including the photography exhibition of China’s beautiful countryside, the exhibition of bamboo handicrafts, the exhibition of China’s intangible cultural heritages, etc.
