Construction of roads linking Yinshan and Hengshan islands to Jinting Island-looping highways is expected to finish by the end of this year. Upon completion, there will be newly-built bridges spanning Taihu Lake, making its beautiful scenery more accessible to residents and tourists.
Two linking roads, three bridges
The project includes two sections, namely, the 1800-meter-long A Section linking Xishan Island with Yinshan Island and 928-meter-long B Section linking Xishan Island with Hengshan Island.
Apart from the linking roads, the project also covers two 5-arch bridges, one 3-arch bridge, and three culverts, which will greatly improve the locals’ living conditions and upgrade the tourism environment.

Two islands to be unveiled soon
Situated to the north of Xishan Island, Hengshan Island covers an area of 0.8 square kilometers and is home to over 600 people.
There are four natural villages on the island — Zhiluo Bay, Beiluo Bay, Nansun Bay and Shekou Bay. The villagers are mostly engaged in loquat, red bayberry, pomegranate, and tea growing industries.
Also sitting to the north of Xishan Island, Yinshan Island is less than one square kilometer in area and is inhabited by only dozens of families.
There is a towering camphor tree by the entrance of the village, which was planted nearly 1800 years ago.
The island is covered by tea plants and fruit trees, including the famous Biluochun tea. With its tranquility, the island is truly a place for taking refuge.
Islands spread all over Taihu Lake. Each of them has its distinctive cultural heritage. With the two linking roads to be completed soon, visitors will find it more convenient to explore the charm of Taihu Lake.
