The wetland restoration project conducted by Tianfu National Wetland Park was selected as one of the “100+ Biodiversity Positive Practices and Actions Around the World” recently. It is worth noting that there are only four wetland projects across China that have been selected.
Located in the northernmost of Huaqiao Economic Development Zone, Tianfu National Wetland Park covers an area of eight square kilometers, and consists of rivers, swamps, forest land, ponds, artificial lakes, rice fields, etc. It was designated a National Wetland Park in January 2019.
Tianfu National Wetland Park has carried out a series of measures in the past few years to enhance wetland protection, making remarkable progress: The park’s wetland coverage rate has increased from 41 percent to 64 percent, and the species of birds has grown from 53 to 208. It owns a total of 549 kinds of plants, one kind of animal under first-class national protection, and 31 kinds of animals under second-class national protection.
The park has saved more than 160 traditional farmhouses, with lakes, rice fields, and swamps crisscrossing. Strolling along the rivers and surrounded by green trees, you will feel as if you walk into a bright-colored painting.
Besides idyllic scenery, visitors can also get a lot of enjoyment in picking fruit and vegetables. Why not bring your family and spend the weekend communing with nature in the park?
